What Is Trauma?
Unresolved trauma can lead to severe anxiety, depression, addiction, physical problems such as pain syndromes, headaches/migraines, digestive problems, and troubled sleep.
And trauma damages how you see yourself, how you feel about your body, and your ability to trust others and the world.
Trauma can come from physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, assault, or smaller injuries that build up over time. Accidents, sudden life changes, and even current events that gain attention in the media can reignite the stress of events from the past. These kinds of experiences can leave you feeling out of control, powerless and overwhelmed. The more vulnerable and helpless you felt at the time, the more likely you are to feel the effects of trauma.
